Couples Porn And Bright Desire
When I decided to create Bright Desire I wanted it to have a broad appeal. Most of my porn career has been about creating porn for women like me. With BD I wanted to expand my horizons and appeal to everyone, including men.
In the mainstream porn industry, content designed to appeal to both straight men and women is considered to be “couples porn”. The idea is that it’s porn that couples can enjoy together. The unofficial guidelines as to what couples porn depicts are rather rigid: it is typically heterosexual, plot-based (because women like stories, right?), high budget, features good-looking stars but still offers the kind of sex you’ll find in more mainstream porn. That means the same old positions, open to the camera, the same cliches (high heels left on, endless moaning, the guy’s head cut out of frame) and the usual external cumshots.
I think it’s fair to say that Bright Desire is definitely not that kind of “couples porn”. The videos and photos you’ll find on this site set aside many of the porn tropes you’re used to seeing and instead depict sex in a more realistic and emotionally honest way. There’s also a variety of videos on here including some queer content. And I don’t shy away from including solo male footage that women may enjoy on their own.
At the same time, I think Bright Desire is a site that couples can definitely enjoy together. I know that my real-life couple scenes are extremely popular, most likely because they are relatively rare in porn. They show couples having sex with genuine passion and joy, including the laughter and mistakes and funny moments that we all experience in bed. I do believe that these scenes make excellent viewing for couples looking to spice things up in the bedroom.
Of course, there’s nothing wrong with using porn for your own individual pleasure and I think Bright Desire offers opportunities for that too. It’s actually a more open and egalitarian space in terms of what it offers. Certainly I don’t feel that the female gaze is neglected here. This isn’t one of those glamour sites which is supposed to include women but the camera ignores the guys and there’s no chance of bi or guy-guy scenarios. The options for creating fantasy aren’t bound by tradition here.
So Bright Desire IS couples porn, but it’s very different to what is typically meant by that phrase. And I think that it’s important that porn changes direction like this.
