Orgies. What’s not to like? An orgy scene can be the perfect tinder for your erotic imagination. So many bodies, so many possibilities. Group sex is common in porn but what about in mainstream film and TV shows? Here’s a selection of the best orgy scenes from films and tv.
The Witcher
In season 1 of The Witcher, our hero meets mage Yennifer of Vengeburg for the first time in the middle of a wild orgy. Yennifer has taken control of a town and uses her magic to induce a fantastic group sex situation with the townsfolk. Because, well, why not? The scene doesn’t hold back and features lots of nakedness and writhing bodies; although it is something of an unnecessary addition to the episode. The orgy doesn’t really add anything, it’s just nice to look at. And as you can see, Wolf is not phased by orgy scene as he has other important plot-related things on his mind. Thankfully, he and Yennifer enjoy some sexytime a bit later on.
Lucifer
Lucifer plays with the idea of the devil having fun on earth. In season 4 episode 6, called “Orgy Pants at Work”, demon Maze turns up to find that Lucifer has been hard at work having orgies while she’s away. The scene isn’t explicit; it’s more a fun portrayal of the aftermath. It also gives an excuse to hint at all the group sex that’s happened without actually showing anything, including nudity. Worth a look just for the hydration joke and “You’ve Fifty Shades of betrayed me.”
Sense8
Sense8, the short-lived series by the Wachowski sisters, was always keen to include hot sex scenes at every turn, especially queer ones. The series explored the experiences of 8 disparate characters who are able to mentally connect across distances. Things got extra steamy in the first episode of season 2 when the 8 main characters all hooked up psychically for an epic orgy. Pansexual, pan-psychic, this scene was enhanced by the emotional connection all 8 characters share. This isn’t the only orgy scene in the series either. There’s at least two others including the epic final scenes of the 2-hour finale.
True Blood
HBO vampire series True Blood thrived on gratuitous sex and violence at every opportunity. In series 2 a maenad (shapeshifter) called Maryann comes to town and draws the townspeople into her influence, culminating in a wild outdoor orgy scene featuring your regular-ol’ folk going at it hammer and tongs.
Eyes Wide Shut
No orgy-related list can go without including the infamous orgy scene from Stanley Kubrick’s Eyes Wide Shut. Tom Cruise attends a mysterious masked gathering where rituals play out and people get it on in myriad ways. It was considered scandalous when the film was released in 1999. The scene has a definite male gaze, with lots of skinny naked women and the men mostly masked and robed. The sex doesn’t look all that realistic either. Still, it has a nice surreal, fantastic vibe that has its own appeal.
Caligula
In 1979 Penthouse publisher Bob Guccione collaborated with Gore Vidal and Tinto Brass to create Caligula. Originally written as a satire and starring big names like Helen Mirren and Sir John Geilgud, the film about the debauched Roman emperor was later edited into a different shape, with explicit sex scenes starring Penthouse Pets added in. The original writers and producers disowned the film and it was banned in many countries. The end result is a strange mishmash of serious acting and full-on porn, including the orgy scene.
Shortbus
John Cameron Mitchell’s film Shortbus is an erotic comedy about a sexually diverse group of people who regularly meet at a sexual salon. The final scene sees everyone getting it on in an orgy during a blackout. Sofia, unable to orgasm throughout the film, achieves on during a threesome in this scene. Shortbus was made in 2006 and features unsimulated sex scenes throughout, despite being a “mainstream” film. The director said he wanted to “employ sex in new cinematic ways because it’s too interesting to leave to porn.”
Conan The Barbarian
There’s something magical about the orgy scene in Conan the Barbarian. It’s not particularly explicit and the orgy scenes themselves are quite brief – the plot is more about Conan and friends sneaking into the palace. Still, Basil Poldaris’ soundtrack is so evocative and the magical, fantasy atmosphere invokes a real sense of the erotic.
The Rocky Horror Picture Show
The pool scene in the Rocky Horror Picture Show isn’t explicit and it’s also quite short. But it’s worth including because it’s a fine example of hedonism, debauchery and people getting sexy together in a group. It embodies the ethos of Rocky Horror and of orgy scenes in general: Don’t dream it, be it.
All these great orgy scenes from film and TV make for arousing viewing and no doubt you’ll be keen for more.
